Student Engagement

Getting involved and staying connected are key to creating your Wisconsin engineering experience, especially while learning remotely. Explore the many ways to get engaged and connected below.

Study Interest Groups

The Undergraduate Learning Center (ULC), the tutoring and learning support office for the College of Engineering, is providing a new service in response to the isolation you may be feeling due to the pandemic and remote learning. We realize it has been especially difficult for first and second year students to make connections with other students in their classes and build study groups.

Interested students (at all academic levels) can complete this form to express interest in being connected to other students. You will be matched in Study Interest Groups with other students with multiple courses in common and supported by a ULC tutor mentor who will meet with groups periodically throughout the semester for check-ins.

In addition, new math review tutorials were created for first and second semester calculus for any students needing or wanting review available here.

All other ULC services remain available this semester in remote learning formats. Visit the ULC page for all of their offerings.

On-campus study spaces

Check out this directory of on-campus spaces for virtual learning and participation in remote course activities. The rooms on this list provide students with dedicated spaces and reliable, high-speed internet to participate in their remote courses and complete course activities such as taking remote quizzes or exams, or collaborating remotely with classmates.

Student Organization Events

Wisconsin Engineering Student CouncilStudent organizations offer great ways to get involved and connect with other students. The Wisconsin Engineering Student Council (WESC) supports the engineering student experience by hosting and promoting events, facilitating listening sessions, and serving as the voice and representation of all engineering students and student organizations. Visit the WESC website for a calendar of upcoming student organization events, as well as a list of all the engineering student organizations you can get involved with.

Engineering Student Engagement Newsletter

Each week, the Engineering Student Engagement newsletter is sent and includes information on upcoming student organization events, WESC updates, a link to the newest podcast episode, and other information and updates that students might be interested in. Read this newsletter each week for new ways to get involved and connected. An archive of past issues is below.
